Reunion of the Upper Sixth Form of 1962
Thursday, 2 May 2024
Through the much-appreciated efforts of Pat Gallagher, ably assisted by John Ash, 14 members of the 25 students in the Upper Sixth form of 1962 (from the class of 1958) met with partners at Taupō in mid-February for as lively a reunion as Old Boys on the verge of becoming octogenarians can get.

The weather was kind to us as we gathered over the Saturday and Sunday in anticipation of a celebration dinner on Sunday evening, which was followed on the Monday by a cruise on the lake in the catamaran Tiua with brunch.

Several of the original form sent apologies including John Millener who is now based in Long Island, New York and Geoff Wells, and unfortunately some could not be contacted. Naturally there were many recollections of School days past, the antics of individual students and the entertaining and sometimes eccentric behaviour of our teachers. We were indeed very fortunate to have had the calibre of teachers such as Freddy Orange, Bandy Innes, H. O. Ingram, PAS Stein, Dudley Adams, Streak Nicholls, T. J. McNamara, to mention just a few.

For those who others in the group had not seen for many years, it was of course of great interest to find out how their careers and lives in general had progressed. There was unanimous agreement that such an event should be repeated sooner rather than later given the speed with which time progresses.

Those Old Boys present were John Ash, John Cutfield, Pat Gallagher, Ross Harricks, Warwick Lee, Richard Northey, Mike Poulsen, Bill Rae, Ian Ross, Tom Schnackenberg, Peter Stanes, Rob Tapper, Gray Taylor, and Murray Ward.
